In this video feature, we compare the three versions of GTA:CTW from the original DS version, the PSP remake and the just released iPhone/iPod Touch version…
Using ‘The Wheel Man’ level as an example, you will see comparisons including cut scene play back, GPS usage, car jacking, general driving, and save times. Due to the in-game clock affecting day time and night time in the game, some versions may differ.
Look out for our more detailed written head to head soon.
Apologies also for the blurry iPhone capture, graphically it’s on par with the PSP version, only on a smaller screen.

Control-wise, would you say that the iPhone version is inferior?

Not at all. Has the precision of the psp analogue control (driving, running) and the interactivity of the DS version (map useage, hot wiring etc).
It actually has the more comfortable play position out of the three. The nub on the PSP cause hand cramps and having to pull out the stylus on the DS can be a pain after a while.

all we need now is a analoug stick and we will have the best of both platforms.

Great video, thanks. I played the DS version and hated the stylus portions but I do miss a control pad, esp. when driving.

What amazes me is the save times of the PSP. I was playing it on the download version too, and while I hear they are quicker than the UMD version of the game, they are still really slow compared to the instant saves of the iPhone version.
